Why should YOU go Deeper Still?
The name Deeper Still captures the essence of our ministry, inviting everyone into a deeper relationship with God. Seeking further healing doesn't diminish past recovery but acknowledges lingering wounds in our soul that hinder our full destiny. Abortion’s impact is systemic, affecting our core identity like cancer.
For a woman who has had an abortion, she is not just left with an empty womb because of a medical procedure. She comes to realize that this abortion, that was supposed to liberate her, is in reality counter intuitive to the very nature of what it means to be created as a woman, a mother, a wife, a friend, and one who influences. This experience intertwines with guilt, shame, dishonor, grief, fear, and victimization.
For a man, intrinsic in his spiritual and psychological DNA, is the fathering instinct to protect and provide for his children. God created fathers to lead their families to victory and destiny, not to have them sacrificed on the altar of an abortion table. Such realities diminish men's strength and courage, promoting passivity over leadership. This moral failure can cause him to compensate in many ways. One way being that he becomes void of the passionate pursuit of his own destiny let alone being able to speak into the identity and destiny of his other living children. These erected barriers also rob him of the hope of legitimate intimacy with his wife, friends, or with God. As with a woman, these core identity issues for a man can only be restored by the God who created man after His own image.
If you are a Christian, you know that receiving forgiveness and atonement for sin can happen instantly as long as it is received in faith and with a sincere heart. When this happens, it means that the debt the person owed for the sin committed has been cancelled and wiped off the ledger.
A lot of abortion wounded woman and men have asked God to forgive them, and they usually even believe it on some level. Some of these same people might wonder, “Why would I go on this retreat? Why go deeper still if I know God’s already forgiven me?” If you ask these same people if they believe God delights in them, has good things planned for them, and that they are not disqualified— they will most likely hesitate to answer or even get emotional, not able to believe it.
Forgiveness and atonement for our sin is the first steps in the journey to healing and restoration. But there is often a journey between having our debts cancelled and walking free from shame, guilt, and grief, and living in the hope of restoration.
If you have an abortion-wounded heart, you may feel crippled, whether you realize it or not. Healing brings freedom from the guilt and shame you lived with, revealing bonds you didn't know existed. You can now talk about abortion, see your aborted child as a person created by God, grieve your loss, and find peace in reconciliation. This healing allows you to advocate for life and support others wounded by abortion.
If you are hurting from an abortion, you may face hidden struggles. As you heal, you can let go of guilt and shame. You might not recognize these struggles until you start feeling free. It will become easier to talk about difficult subjects, including saying "abortion." You can start to see your aborted babies as unique individuals created by God, enabling you to mourn your loss and find peace in knowing you are reconciled with them and will be reunited one day. You can also support others affected by abortion and advocate for life.
So, we want to encourage you to choose to go Deeper Still with the Lord today and see what He has in store for you!
